The sexiest part of foreplay might surprise you!

The sexiest part of foreplay might surprise you!

I want to share a little reminder about intimacy that is easy to forget when life gets busy: foreplay does not have to begin in the bedroom.

Think back to the beginning of your relationship, when receiving a simple text from your partner could completely change your day. Maybe it was a message telling you that they were thinking about you, an inside joke that made you laugh, or a simple reminder that they were looking forward to seeing you later.

Those little moments may not have seemed significant at the time, but they helped create feelings of connection, excitement, and anticipation.

As relationships become more comfortable and life becomes busier, those moments can easily get replaced by conversations about work, schedules, errands, laundry, and everything else that needs to get done. Before you know it, intimacy can start to feel like something that only happens when everything else on the to-do list is finished.

The truth is that connection can be built throughout the entire day.

When you feel noticed, appreciated, emotionally connected, and comfortable with your partner, it can be easier to shift your attention away from everyday responsibilities and become more present with each other. That is one reason anticipation can play such an important role in intimacy.

You can start creating that anticipation with very simple gestures.

You can send your partner a thoughtful message during the day that has nothing to do with errands or responsibilities. You can give them a genuine compliment that lets them know you still notice the little things about them. You can share a longer hug, hold hands, or give them a kiss simply because you want to show affection.

You can also make time for conversation and playfulness. Instead of automatically reaching for your phones at the end of the day, you could play a couples game, ask each other meaningful questions, or simply spend a few uninterrupted minutes talking.

Most importantly, these moments do not have to come with an expectation that they will lead to intimacy. Affection and connection are valuable on their own, and removing that pressure can actually make it easier to enjoy being close to one another.

The goal is not to create the perfect date night or follow some complicated formula. The goal is to create small, intentional moments that remind your partner that they are still important to you, that you still notice them, and that you still choose them.

Sometimes, the most exciting part of intimacy is not what happens in the bedroom. It is the feeling of spending the entire day knowing that you are connected to someone who makes you feel wanted, appreciated, and loved.

So today, send the text. Give the extra kiss. Start the conversation. Make your partner smile.

You might be surprised by how much those little moments can change the way you reconnect later.

Are you ready to make tonight a little more interesting?
